PureSteel Solutions Railing FAQ – Answers to Your Questions

General Product Information

How do I maintain my PureSteel Solutions railing?

The PSS rail requires no maintenance. Like any outdoor railing, it may collect dust or dirt over time, but a quick wipe with a damp microfiber cloth keeps it looking like new.

While all metal surfaces can warm up under direct sunlight, our brushed stainless steel railings are designed to reflect heat more efficiently than a polished finish, helping to keep them comfortable to the touch.

304 Brushed Stainless Steel

The rail is 5.75” wide and 2.13” tall. The rail length is determined by your project needs.

The rail length is customized to suit your project requirements. The maximum rail length is typically 96″ (8 ft) to allow for efficient shipping and handling. If you need longer rail lengths, let us know, and we’ll provide a freight shipping quote. We tailor the rail to fit your project!

Installation & Measuring

Can I install PureSteel railings myself or do I need to hire a contractor?

PureSteel railings are designed for easy installation, making them a great option for DIYers with basic tools and experience. Clear instructions and precision engineering make the process straightforward. However, for larger, more complex projects or commercial applications, hiring a contractor is ideal.

See How to Measure. Contact us if you have any questions.

When sliding the PureSteel Solutions rail onto the 2×6 is not feasible due to space constraints, it is necessary to first uninstall the 2×6. Next, slide the rail onto the detached 2×6 and the adjacent section of railing, if applicable. Reinstall the 2×6 back onto the existing railing, in the same manner it was installed originally.

It may be necessary to tap the end cap into position. Place a block of wood between the hammer or mallet and the end cap to protect the stainless steel while tapping it into position. The overlap should be a minimum of 1″ and a maximum of 1 1/4”. End caps are designed for a secure fit, to ensure that your 2×6 is protected from the elements.

No. Corner pieces do not overlap the rails.  The gap between each rail and the corner should be a minimum of 1/4″ to a maximum of 1”.

No. The minimum gap between adjacent rail pieces is 1/4″ and the maximum gap is 1”.

Corners have two holes along the outer edge. Fasten the corner piece to the existing railing with 1” stainless steel screws with a #2 Phillips screwdriver bit.

Yes – There needs to be a 1/4″ gap between the corner piece and the adjacent rails. The transition strips cover these gaps.
